The first issue to feature the new identity and art direction of Conscience Magazine. “The Storytelling Issue.”
Conscience Magazine’s editorial design evolution.
In collaboration with the writers and editorial staff, our team explored various concepts to capture fuel to the fire energy behind the magazine. We also demonstrated with their previous content how intentional and deeply explored cover art and graphics can elevate featured narratives.
Our team produced templates to pitch a concept direction that was bold and playful.
Custom graphics and illustrations I produced for the client.
The Conscience magazine staff reviewed the proposed concepts and provided extensive feedback to finalize a template we’d use to layout out the “Storytelling” issue.
When thinking about “storytelling,” we initially chose a cover direction that portrays documentation and archives pivotal moments. The first cover is intended to capture featured stories through a microfilm reader. Eventually, we settled on an illustration that maintains the magazine's playfulness but also utilizes the ability to be intentional with audacious messaging.
